The concept of an iterative process may run counter to what some of us think about the research process.

This study explored the evolution of this policy innovation, with a focus on the policy environment that created room for the innovation to take hold and the relationships between local public administrators and nonprofit leaders that made this happen. More broadly, this study focused on how successful programs began and continued—how policy innovation occurred and became sustainable. There are several studies about the rise of drug courts. What made this study unique was its focus on the interior of the policy, inside the offices of public administrators and nonprofit executives, and its examination of different forms of information that these administrators used and how that information influenced their choices.

Moreover, in the face of unlimited information, it is more important than ever that communication about research be grounded in our ability to locate, sift, and organize information.
